Warehousing & Distribution

Warehousing & Distribution

Flexible, Secure and Scalable Warehousing

At FF Customs & Logistics, we provide comprehensive warehousing and storage solutions across the UK and Europe. Our facilities are designed to support your logistics operations with flexible, secure, and fully managed storage options for all types of cargo — from consumer goods and industrial materials to bonded and hazardous freight.

Strategically positioned near key ports, airports, and motorway networks, our warehouses provide fast access to major distribution routes, reducing lead times and keeping your supply chain moving efficiently. Whether you need short-term storage for a single load or long-term inventory management, we tailor our service around your operational needs.

We are fully licensed to operate bonded warehousing, allowing the storage of dutiable goods such as alcohol, wine, and spirits under duty suspension. This enables importers and distributors to defer duty and VAT payments until goods are released, improving cash flow and simplifying customs procedures.

In addition, we offer specialist hazardous goods (Hazmat) storage, managed by trained personnel in full compliance with ADR, IMDG, and all relevant safety standards. Our dedicated hazardous storage areas are equipped with appropriate containment, ventilation, and fire safety systems to ensure complete safety and legal compliance.

Added Value for Your Supply Chain

Beyond Storage: Integrated Logistics Support

Our warehousing solutions go far beyond simple storage. We offer a fully integrated service that supports your entire logistics process — from inbound receipt and inspection to order fulfilment and distribution.

Our experienced warehouse teams manage bonded, non-bonded, and hazardous cargo with precision and care. We handle product consolidation, repackaging, labelling, and pick-and-pack operations, ensuring every item is correctly processed and ready for onward movement.

For alcohol and other duty-suspended goods, we maintain strict HMRC compliance at every stage. For hazardous cargo, we provide secure segregation and controlled handling areas in accordance with all safety and environmental regulations.

By combining warehousing with our transport and customs services, we create a seamless logistics chain that saves time, reduces risk, and provides full visibility of your stock wherever it’s stored.

Security, Technology & Compliance

Beyond Storage: Integrated Logistics Support

We understand that security, accuracy, and compliance are critical to your business. That’s why our warehouses are equipped with 24-hour CCTV, electronic access control, and a sophisticated warehouse management system (WMS) that tracks every pallet, case, and item in real time.

Our bonded and hazardous areas are monitored continuously and managed by trained staff under strict safety procedures. All hazardous goods are handled and stored in accordance with ADR and UK Health & Safety Executive requirements, with full documentation and emergency response measures in place.

We operate under ISO-certified quality systems and maintain rigorous compliance standards for HMRC, environmental protection, and occupational safety. From duty-suspended alcohol to temperature-sensitive or hazardous freight, we provide total transparency and peace of mind.

The storage process – phases

The storage process can be divided into four main phases: goods receipt, storage, picking, and dispatch. These phases occur in a specific order, as each phase follows on from the previous one and leads to the final distribution of goods.

1
Goods receipt
The first phase, during which goods are received into the warehouse. It includes operations such as unloading, quality and quantity control, and transport to the storage area.
2
Storage
Organisation of storage space in accordance with technical and logistical requirements. Goods can be stored in rows or blocks, depending on their specific characteristics.
3
Picking
Preparing goods for dispatch. This can be done using the "person to goods" or "goods to person" method, and may also include labelling and quality control.
4
Issuing
The phase in which goods leave the warehouse. It includes checking issues, loading and transferring goods for transport.

Storage systems – warehouse classification

Warehouses differ in terms of their design, function and spatial organisation. We distinguish between:

Types of structures: open, semi-open, and closed warehouses, above ground or underground.
Types (class): class A, class B, class C, class D.
Spatial layout: through layout (separate receiving and issuing zones), angular layout (adjacent receiving and issuing zones) and bag layout (receiving and issuing on the same side).
Storage height: low (up to 4.2 m), medium (from 4.2 to 7.2 m) and high storage (above 7.2 m).
Function: delivery, distribution, production, transshipment, container and customs warehouses.

Whether you require one-off or regular storage, this solution can always deliver operational and financial benefits.
